Motorized Cellular Shades

Gray motorized cellular shades in an illustrative bedroom

Illustrative room setting; confirm color with a physical fabric sample.

Comfort at the touch of a button

Raise or lower your cellular shades by remote control—especially useful for tall windows, bedrooms and media rooms. Choose a custom cellular shade with a Rollease Automate or Somfy motor and a wide fabric selection.

Configure your shade, color and measurements.

Custom Motorized

Choose compatible custom fabrics, cell sizes and Price Groups 1–10. Rollease Automate and Somfy systems are available; fabric and size compatibility depend on the motor.

Select the motor, power source and controller together. Custom shades are made to the ordered length.

Power & smart control

Rechargeable batteries, solar accessories or other power options depend on the selected system. A compatible hub is needed for supported smart-device or voice control.

Smart-home compatibility varies by motor and hub. We confirm it against your equipment before ordering.

Mounting & measurements

Select inside or outside mount. For inside mount, provide the actual opening width unchanged, required length and usable recess depth. For outside mount, provide the desired finished coverage width and length.

We confirm headrail, bracket, battery and cable clearance for your exact motor and power arrangement. Battery mounting behind the headrail can require extra recess depth. Do not use a manual shade’s headrail depth for a motorized order.

For inside-mount custom orders, the factory applies the ¼″ total width deduction once. Neither you nor Plumridge should subtract the factory deduction from the submitted opening width.

Pricing your motorized shade

Custom pricing combines the compatible fabric’s price group and size with the selected motor and accessories. We confirm the complete configuration and final price before ordering.

Cellular Shade FAQs

What does a 9/16″, ¾″ or 1¼″ cell size mean?

These are nominal fabric cell/pleat sizes, specified by the manufacturer and shown on the fabric sample. The measurement describes one repeating honeycomb fabric fold seen in the side profile. For example, 9/16″ is 0.5625 inch and ¾″ is 0.75 inch. It does not describe the width of your window, the overall shade length or the recess depth.

Why choose a different cell size?

Smaller cells make finer, more closely spaced horizontal lines; larger cells give fewer, broader pleats and often suit larger windows. The choice also changes the available fabrics, colors and compatible operating systems. Choose by appearance and the options available for your shade, then check its size limits and mounting-depth requirements separately.

Does a larger cell always insulate better or need the same mounting depth?

Insulation depends on the complete fabric, opacity and cell construction. Single cell has one layer of air pockets; double cell and cell-in-a-cell use a second layer or nested pocket. Cell size alone does not establish insulation performance or the space required by the headrail. Use the listed mounting and flush-fit depths for your selected shade and motor.
