A concealed curtain track, built into the ceiling

The RTS two-part recessed drapery track sits within a prepared drywall ceiling or soffit, creating a flush mount finish that keeps attention on your curtains. Install the outer housing first, then secure the working rail with the fixing strip and wedge. The removable inner rail can be fitted after ceiling finishing and released for service.

Powder-coated aluminum, shown in white. Hand or baton operation, with a left draw, right draw or center-opening pair. Specify Pinch Pleat or Ripplefold drapery.

Coordinate the ceiling opening, support and finishing sequence with your installer before construction.

Calculate your finished track width

For an outside window layout, add the casing width and the space on each side. For an inside recess, enter the finished track width directly.

Enter all three values, including 0 when no added space is needed.

Measure the finished opening and ceiling pocket. Lengths above 96″ require a Design Consultation to confirm splicing and freight.

2. Drapery configuration

Recessed curtain track frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RTS and CS Recess curtain tracks?

RTS uses a separate outer housing and removable inner rail, allowing the working track to be fitted after ceiling finishing. CS Recess drapery track is fixed directly through its track profile into a prepared ceiling recess. Each needs its own approved opening, depth and installation details; the profiles are not interchangeable.

Can I use this recessed track with Ripplefold curtains?

Yes. Choose Ripplefold and the required fullness in the manual track calculator. We also make custom Ripplefold curtains to suit your track and opening arrangement. Pinch Pleat draperies use individual carriers matched to the panel hooks.

How does the two-part installation work?

The outer housing is secured in a prepared ceiling recess or soffit. The inner working rail is then inserted into the housing, followed by the fixing strip and wedge. This allows the rail to be fitted after ceiling finishing and released later for servicing.

Left: insert the inner rail into the fitted housing. Right: insert the fixing strip to lock the rail in place. Photographic visualization based on the installation drawing.

Confirm the recess, support and access against the approved installation sheet before cutting or fastening.

What is included in my manual track?

The RTS rail, matching outer housing, fixing strip, wedge, end caps, selected carriers and master carrier arrangement. Baton Draw includes one baton for a one-way panel or two for a center-opening pair. Drapery fabric, installation and motorization are separate.

Can I choose Ripplefold or Pinch Pleat?

Yes. Ripplefold uses connected carriers selected for 60%, 80%, 100% or 120% fullness. For Pinch Pleat, enter the number of individual carriers required by your drapery hooks. Master carriers are additional.

Can I order a track longer than 96 inches?

Yes, through our complimentary Design Consultation. We will confirm the RTS splice arrangement, ceiling support, access and freight for the complete run before quoting.

Can the inner track be serviced?

The separate rail can be released from its housing for servicing. Allow practical access to the fixing strip, wedge and end components; confirm the final installation with your installer.

How are dimensions and prices calculated?

Enter the finished track width and fraction. Track materials are priced in billable whole feet; the fixing strip is cut 6 inches shorter than the rail. Quantity multiplies the complete configured system. Shipping and applicable tax are calculated at checkout.

Choose your controls

Handheld remote, wall control, app and voice options depend on the selected motor and integration route. We will choose the equipment during your consultation.

Lutron and Savant integration

Savant integration can use a compatible RF motor with Bond Bridge Pro. For a Lutron-controlled home, we can design a suitable automation route through Bond Bridge Pro and a compatible control interface, or specify a compatible Lutron motor connected to our track using our special adapter. We will confirm the exact Lutron system, motor and adapter combination during your consultation.

See our Heavy-Duty Integration Guide for Lutron and wider automation planning, including Savant references. The guide covers several motor families; we select the wiring and control method that matches your final motor.

What is the difference between the HD, Eco and iOn motors?

HD (M): Our higher-capacity powered option for heavier draperies. The motor is rated for up to 160 lb on a straight track or 120 lb on a curved track. Available in white.

Eco (S): A powered option for many everyday drapery installations, rated for up to 100 lb on a straight track or 90 lb on a curved track. Available in white.

iOn battery motor: We recommend this rechargeable option only for lightweight sheer draperies where a permanent power connection at the track is impractical. For other draperies, we recommend a plug-in HD or Eco motor. Available in white.

These are motor limits, not the capacity of every complete installation. Track length, bends, drapery weight, opening arrangement and frequency of use affect the final choice. We specify the right motor and compatible track components during your Free Design Consultation.

Is the iOn motor cordless, and how is it charged?

The iOn runs on a rechargeable battery, so it does not need a permanent power cable during normal operation. A charger is included, and access must be allowed for periodic charging. Battery life between charges depends on the drapery weight, travel distance and frequency of use. Based on our installation experience, we recommend the iOn only for lightweight sheers. For everyday use with other draperies, our preferred choice is a plug-in HD or Eco motor.

Do the HD and Eco motors need a power connection?

Yes. Both connect to a standard 110–120V household outlet through a compatible external power supply, which delivers 24V to the motor. We recommend these plug-in options for most draperies, especially heavier fabrics or frequent use. We plan the power supply, cable route and service access with your ceiling and track layout. The required equipment is included in your project quotation.

Is motorization included in the manual price?

No. The online configuration prices the manual RTS system. RMS motorization, power, controls, automation interfaces and installation are quoted separately after a complimentary Design Consultation.

Does Bond Bridge Pro pair directly with every Lutron system?

The integration depends on the Lutron controller and available interfaces. A Bond-based route may require additional automation equipment and programming. We confirm the supported route before specifying your system.

Can you use a Lutron motor on your track?

We offer a special adapter for a compatible Lutron motor and track combination. Send your motor and Lutron system details so we can confirm fit, drive compatibility, capacity and access.

Can I add motorization later?

Choose manual or motorized operation at the beginning, before the ceiling is cut or finished. The motorized system requires a specially shaped housing, a matching ceiling cutout and the correct recess depth, with space for the motor and servicing.

The manual system should not be installed with the expectation of adding a motor later. Changing systems would require changes to the housing and ceiling. Book your Free Design Consultation before construction so we can specify the correct system, opening, depth and power requirements from the outset.

What limits the motorized drapery weight?

The complete system must satisfy both the track rating and the selected motor’s load limit. Track length, bends, fabric weight and installation all affect the final specification.

What should I send for a motorization consultation?

Send the track length, draw direction, drapery heading and weight, ceiling plans or photographs, power availability, and your Lutron or Savant controller and motor details.
